Tight White Pants
It is autumn and many of us are packing up our summer clothes for next year and taking out the long sleeves and flannels. A huge portion of our population lives in the south, though, and never experiences this seasonal flip flop of fashion do’s and don’ts. In warmer climates white pants are worn year round so there is always a need and consequently a market for them. You avoid wearing black or dark colored clothing in the tropical heat of places like Miami or Southern California because, let’s face it, it’s just too darned hot even in the winter months.
White denim pants as well as white golf pants are huge sellers in these southern areas. Any pro golf shop will carry a wide variety of white pants as well as white shorts for the golf enthusiast. They may not be big sellers in December in the Snow Belt, but in Tampa, Florida they are always hot items. White denim pants and white linen pants are also carried throughout the year in styles for both men and women. Currently white skinny jeans are all the rage and you will probably find labels like Old Navy and American Eagle all winter long in stores in the south. My guess would be that online retailers and wholesalers will also have stock available if you prefer to shop from the convenience of your home.
Like black, white is a neutral color and can be worn in combination with almost any other color. No matter what the trend you can always see both men and women wearing a black shirt with white pants or vice versa. While black is thought to be more slimming you can even find plus sized white pants for women who are larger in stature. This is a real godsend in southern climates because white is so much cooler. Heavier people tend to have less tolerance to heat so white cropped pants and white linen pants are much more comfortable in extreme temperatures. Don’t let anyone fool you. The south is HOT all year long and any help you can get staying cool is a plus. Check out weather dot com and you will note that many a Christmas in South Florida hit the upper 80’s to lower 90’s. It’s ok though, you can still be traditional. Just wear a green or red top with your white dress pants and you’re good to go.
Now that I’ve unintentionally convinced ¾ of the U.S. population to go south for the winter it might be wise to remind you once again that you can always find white pants online even if your local department or clothing stores have packed up their summer stock. And if by chance you do find a store that still has a few around on the shelf they are probably on clearance so grab a few pair for next summer. The extra savings is worth the wait to wear them. Oh, and if you do get a chance to head south, don’t forget to pack you new white pants for the trip.
